CURRENT STATUS: Back to Leeds and working on the site again! :D
THANKS FOR CHECKING IN!
I'm inspired by stories and possibilities, and paint and write to record moments and ideas.
A keen sailor, I have lived most of my adult life in the UK, where I'm based when not at sea.
Thanks for visiting my website and I hope you will enjoy what you see and feel part of the crew!
ABOUT ME + FAQ
1. Where are you based?
A fairer question would be 'where are you at the moment..'
I'm UK domiciled and a resident (and my boat is UK-flagged) but will spend prolonged periods sailing/travelling. The easiest way to keep track of my whereabouts is by checking my 'status updates' here, and/or at the very top of my HOME page.
2. What art materials do you use? What's your process?
Only quality professional materials are used to guarantee a piece's archival properties.
I can advise exactly what was used on a specific piece once you buy it or ask me via private message. Everything is archival to guarantee your art will last for as long as you look after it.
Then, my friend, we are in luck! Time allowing, and should you wish, we can arrange to meet, and I will deliver straight to you. This is especially true if you want to arrange a commission - I'd love the opportunity to meet face-to-face and discuss requirements whenever possible (I know life goes at a fast pace and people get busy!). You are also welcome to come aboard and we will have a drink... :)
4. Do you accept orders placed outside of the US/UK?
Yes, I will happily ship all over the world. You can learn more about shipping costs and expected delivery dates on the 'shipping info' section when you are ready to buy - or drop me a message here.
5. How do I pay for my order? Is it secure?
My checkout process is powered by both Stripe and PayPal, two of the most trusted online payment solutions on the web - so you enjoy all of the same securities and payment fraud protection they offer. You can pay with your debit card (in the UK), PayPal, Visa or MasterCard, anywhere in the world. If paying with PayPal, you may also make payments using your bank account.
Further, this site is McAfee certified (you can see their logo on the right bottom corner), and hosted on a secure server (check out the 'https' on your browser's tab).
6. How long will it take to receive my order?
It will normally take about 2 to 4 days for an original to arrive, after shipping**, if we are in the same country. International shipping can vary between 1 to 6 weeks, and I can advise further when you place your order and upon posting. My prints are currently managed by 'Fine Art America', and you will be advised of best delivery terms at the checkout stage.
I'll also cross my fingers that your order gets there as quickly as possible!!!
**Please note I will normally dispatch your order 'next day' if I'm not at sea, and 'as soon as possible' upon getting to dry land if I'm 'in the drink'. Check my current location HERE.
7. Are paintings offered framed?
To make logistics and shipping MUCH more straight forward, and because most people like to chose their own frames, I will only ship the original painting itself, with a matching matting. The painting will be properly protected in a waterproof clear 'cello sleeve' and reinforced pouch/envelope, so you get it ready to frame. You can then either use a standard frame, or take it to a custom framer.
Please check the painting's dimensions on the purchase page. I paint standard sizes for the most part and will advise further on the rare occasion the size is a one-off.
I also do offer you the option to have the painting mounted on a canvas or board, so you can readily hang it without a frame. If that's what you are after, please contact me before purchasing for more details.
As I paint mainly in watercolor/watercolour, not having the canvas/board option means you will receive it in premium watercolor/watercolour paper - the surface it has been painted on, ready to frame.
When you order prints, however, you will immediately be given the option to choose your matting and frame and receive the full package.
8. Should I take any special care with the painting?
As with any work of art, you must protect it from direct sunlight and extreme conditions.
I can also seal the painting for best archival results should you want to avoid framing it behind glass. Get in touch for more details on the process.
9. What's your return / exchange policy?
I go many steps further than the UK / EU leading directive on the topic. In short, if you aren't 100% satisfied with what you receive, just get in touch within 30 days of receipt and I will make it right - you can have a refund or exchange upon returning the piece.
In any case, if you want to know your rights in regards to ANY product you buy online, you can get started here (you will be redirected to an external site on a new window).
10. What about links, email subscription and shopping third part products from your site?
This is my art and thoughts gallery - written and edited by me, Tiago Rocha. If you subscribe to hear news via email, your email address and any associated information will NEVER be shared with anyone else – not personally, not professionally. EVER.
If you click on an ad or a link to a product from this website, and you make a purchase (usually within 12 - 24 hours of clicking the link), I will get a small commission (anything between 1-10%, depending on what it is), which does not affect your shopping experience in any way, but helps me in maintaining this site up.
I am a participant in the Amazon USA Associates Programme, an affiliate advertising programme designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. I'm also an iTunes and Blackwells associate.
